In what follows, the displayed links are quality websites and directories. We strongly recommend them.

The websites in red represent the worst of the Web.

They are likely to erase your links shortly after an exchange agreement - early enough to leave no time for the search engines to take them into account. Some ask you to link before you submit your website, knowing they will never link back. Quite a few deliberately hide your links from the search engines or code them in a way to forbid indexing... Does it matter? Your one way links increase their PR, but lower yours.

From a Popularity Ranking measure point of view, mass numbers one way links are counter productive. The bad directories and websites dispossess you of 1 or 2 PR points depending on the number of links you have set towards them. This is just like transferring 30 to 70% of your visitors directly to them. Did you not engage in this link exchange process to increase your traffic? Avoid these guys like the plague. Instead, choose the rare World Wide Web actors that can open your doors to success. Some are listed below. They are genuine and honest directories and they do not match the definition of a "links farm" and most of them are free.

Links Exchange

Your link exchange offer is welcome. Our conditions are strictly reciprocal (two ways) and go as follows:

• The link page must be nicely presented.
• The link text must match the requested terms.
• The links must come before position 100 on the page.
• The links page must be linked from the main index page to speed up the listing process.
• The exchanged links must be "hard copies": Only html, no frames, no Javascript, no php, no Flash.
• There should be no indications against indexing for robots: "noindex" metatags in the head section or robots.txt file.
• The links page should have a minimum Popularity Rank of 2. (Brand new websites and pages are temporarily dispensed.)
• The websites and subdomains must not belong to the "XXX" classification, nor should they be blacklisted by the search engines.
• A link that is not acknowledged by the search engines within 4 months is of no value and erased (6 months for brand new websites.)
• Because the link exchange management requires a lot of work and efforts, we expect each link exchange deal to last a minimum of 1 year.
